Artist Statement

VanillaRoyal creates a world full of hostile sweetness and extinguished violence. She pairs the ordinary (‘Vanilla’) with the extraordinary (‘Royal’) by using cutting edge-technology combined with ancient, traditional methods.

The initial creation of VR’s world and motifs is digital; she constructs and deconstructs vectors and computerized cut-outs. The digital sketches are then converted into physical objects using ancient, traditional techniques. Finally, she retouches the hand-made sculptures and paintings, until they reach a digital- like, machine- made appearance, annihilating the physical essence of the material itself.

This process of work, explores the boundaries of the mediums; investigating the seam between craft and the digital art, tradition and innovate technology, virtual space and concrete objects.

A new evasive medium is born: high resolution sculptures, Neo- Acrylic paintings & HD video paintings.
